T O P I C R E V I E WthemadvikingI just received an unexpected package from Willabee & Ward. It contained two "NASA Collectable Emblems" (not ordered) plus an invoice for $28.50 (not wanted). Now, I know that I don't have to pay for unsolicited merchandise, but I'm wondering, has anyone here ever heard of these guys? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.mikelarsonThey are owned by the same folks that run Easton Press and (I think) the Danbury Mint. They specialize in collectible patches and frequently issue replicas of Apollo and space shuttle patches. themadvikingNow that I think of it, I had an account with Danbury Mint for my wife. Makes sense how I got on a list. I appreciate the feedback.KSCartistI received the same space patch stuff that you did, but I'm not convinced that they'll do every mission. Besides I've been collecting those for years and don't need Willabee & Ward.John K. RochesterPlus, I wasn't all that impressed with the quality of the Willabee & Ward patches.(No, they will not do every mission.)Robert PearlmanMy understanding was that the patches were sourced from AB Emblem and that Willabee & Ward did not produce their own patches for their sets. Am I mistaken?John K. RochesterThat may be, Robert. I purchased the patch set and subsequent "binder" about 10 years ago. Maybe they are using a different company, but found some of mine to be lopsided, miscolored, and with the "embroidery string" hanging. Also, some of the photos that the patch set were attached to describing the missions were inaccurate to the mission described.Hopefully, it's better now...themadvikingI will echo the sentiments that the patches are not of the best quality.LiemboBryan Bjork and I have been comparing notes on the availability of these Willabee & Ward patch sets. It turns out that there are actually 51 patches available in these sets, which means there may be some variation in the completeness of any one set of 50. Bryan's set has an STS-41 patch but mine does not. I have cataloged all of the patches in a Google sheet here (with some notes on variations seen as well). If anyone has a patch or variation outside that list I would like to know about it so I can revise the list.
